The Sacrament of Confirmation, like Baptism and Eucharist, is a sacrament of initiation. By the sacrament of Confirmation, the one who is confirmed is bound more perfectly to the Church and enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. It also offers the grace to give greater personal witness to Jesus.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be a weekly two-year program using a new Confirmation program from LifeTeen called “Purpose”. The aim of Purpose is to provide a youth group type environment for students to encounter Jesus and to prepare for Confirmation through a discernment process. The Confirmation program will incorporate a parent component as well as participation from their chosen sponsor. Youth will be journeying through the Confirmation program with the guidance of program leaders, parents, sponsors, and the parish as a whole.
The Diocese of Saginaw has discerned the best age for the sacrament should begin at a minimum age of 12 years and should not be tied to a specific grade level. Previously, since the early 1990s, children in the Diocese have received the Sacrament of Confirmation in second grade. They chose “Purpose” which looks at answering three big questions: (1) Why God? (2) Why Jesus? (3) Why the Church? It encourages teens to dive deeper into their faith and rediscover what being a confirmed member of the Catholic faith truly means.
If you have a son or daughter who will be prepared to start the Sacrament of Confirmation this fall, and they are the minimum age of 12 years by December 31, 2024, please fill out the form below.

The program utilizes both large and small group settings, allowing for discussion, reflection, prayer, talks, and other activities! We will have opportunities to learn about different ways to pray within the church, participate in service projects, and bring home a family component. In addition to our usual sessions, students will have expectations and opportunities to participate in Youth Masses, Youth Ministry Events, and other Parish events.
