This campaign will enhance our beloved buildings, have a positive and immediate impact on students currently attending the Academy, and position the school for long-term success. Read on to learn about the positive impact this $1.5 million will have on our Sacred Heart community.
When teaching students every day at Sacred Heart Academy, the educators, staff, and administrators learn several lessons themselves. In recent years, Sacred Heart has learned how to deliver high-quality instruction despite enormous restrictions, precautions, and an increased awareness of student well-being.
When classrooms, lunchrooms, gymnasiums, and the church environments were adjusted for safety, our high academic standards were never compromised. Increased sanitizing, campus collaboration, and mental health checks became second nature, while in-person learning and hands-on instruction continued without interruption. Challenges which hindered schools and organizations across our state and nation, saw SHA not only stepping up and exhibiting strength, but bringing out the very best we have to offer. Others struggled while Sacred Heart pivoted seamlessly to meet fundraising and enrollment goals year after year. Our students adapted and thrived academically. Four new science courses were added to the high school curriculum, including Environmental Science and Wildlife Fisheries, and there are now four AP courses offered. Student athletes also performed, bringing home six new banners: the first-ever girls track and volleyball state championships, and boys basketball, volleyball, and softball semi-finalist or runner-up awards.
Sacred Heart Academy is the only Pre-K through 12th grade, one-campus school remaining in the Saginaw Diocese, and one of a select few in the state of Michigan supported by a single church. The Academy does not receive per-pupil revenue from state tax sources, instead relying solely on tuition, grants, and private funding for operations.
SHA is currently debt-free, our enrollment has grown in recent years, and our teacher & staff retention rate is impressive. How many Catholic schools in the nation can say any of those statements, let alone all three?
To position Sacred Heart Academy for continued success and preserve the 135-year tradition of Catholic education, we invite parents, alumni, parishioners, and friends to invest in a capital campaign showing FAITH IN THE FUTURE. We need to make necessary improvements to our school to support our enrollment and boost the endowment for teachers’ salaries.
As our world continually changes and technology becomes the prime source of communication, the presence and value of a Catholic education becomes ever more important. Youth need the moral guidance, structure, and academic excellence which are hallmarks of a Catholic education. Sacred Heart Academy is proud to provide these qualities, and here’s why:
There is a difference in Catholic education which challenges young people to find meaning and value in their lives and reach their full potential. Catholic school graduates are compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society who remain committed to faith throughout their lives. Catholic school graduates are also highly skilled, informed, tolerant, forgiving people who become leaders in their communities.
If you believe in, or have benefitted from a Catholic school education, please help. Make a significant investment to position Sacred Heart Academy for longevity and success. Show us your FAITH IN THE FUTURE.
