One Community, One Spirit, One Heart

The Eucharist

Jesus said: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; …he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and … abides in me, and I in him.” (John 6:51, 54, 56).

Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

Students in the second grade, or higher, are eligible to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion. If your child has not yet been baptized, but you are interested in joining the full communion of the church, please our Religious Education Director, Ann Roberge, at aroberge@sha.net or call the Parish Office at 989.772.1385.
