Sacred Heart Parish is creating a new position to help grow a vibrant culture of evangelization, discipleship, and faithful service within its youth. Led by the Holy Spirit, our vision includes fostering within area youth an appreciation for participation in the sacraments, a strong desire to serve the Church and world, a faithful and rich prayer life, a sound understanding of Catholic moral teaching and a strong love for Jesus.
The youth minister will encourage and organize a variety of evangelistic opportunities for youth to encounter Christ and subsequently grow in faith, prayer, and discipleship as a member of the pastoral and administrative staff at Sacred Heart Parish. The Youth Minister will be responsible for grades 7 – 12.
Preferred candidates will be faithful, publicly active, and prayerful Catholics. They should be comfortable talking about their personal relationship with Jesus, and be able to speak with conviction about the life-changing nature of a life lived in the Holy Spirit. They should be motivated to help others come to know Jesus as Lord and to live lives of faith.
Candidates should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. They should have a strong commitment to service and possess both the eagerness and ability to help the youth grow in their love of Jesus and their knowledge of the Catholic faith. Candidates should also have experience engaging parents, volunteers, and other stakeholders to support the ministry.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree and experience working with middle school, high school, and/or college-age students in Catholic formation, evangelization, or the equivalent and must be able to design, develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the characteristics of administration, evangelism, leadership, and teaching and will have or be willing to get additional training and education in evangelization, catechesis or theology.
This position is Full-Time (average 40 hours per week) with Full Benefits, employer-provided training and professional development, and requires flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends.
